A Christmas Light Hanging Service Designed Around Your Property
A roofline gives a display its shape. A wreath welcomes guests at the door. Hanging tree lights bring the garden into the celebration. Our Christmas light hanging service brings these details together with a warm white palette that complements your property and feels unmistakably like Christmas.
We carry two bulbs and only two. Warm white C9s trace roof peaks and eaves with the bold, defined outline most people picture when they think of Christmas lights, and warm white LED mini strands handle trees, greenery, pathways and the softer work. That is a deliberate choice. A narrow, curated palette keeps every element of a display in the same family, so the roofline, the front door and the trees read as one design instead of four separate purchases. Multicolor is available when a client asks for it.
Your proposal starts with the roofline and everything else is an option you can add or leave off. Greenery, trees, pathway accents and sidewalk borders each appear as their own line, priced separately, so you can see exactly where the budget goes and build the display up or down without starting over.
Most quotes begin with a visit. Call or text the address and Sean gets out to the property, usually that same evening during the season, to measure, look at roof access and talk through what the house is actually asking for. Homes across Old Metairie and the wider metro get the same treatment.
Hanging Tree Lights That Make You Stop and Look
Those strands of light dropping straight down out of a tree have a name, though you have probably heard several. Hanging tree lights, cluster lights, cascading lights, tree string lights. Customers call and describe them rather than name them, and that is fine. If you have seen them and want them, you are in the right place.
Here is how they are made. We run warm white LED mini strands up into the canopy and let them fall from the branches, so the light hangs in vertical columns and moves a little in the wind. It is a different technique from wrapping a trunk, and it looks different from the street. Wrapping outlines the tree. Hanging fills the space under it.
Mature live oaks and magnolias are the reason the look carries so well here. A wide canopy gives the strands room to drop and spread, and the light pools on the lawn underneath instead of stopping at the bark. On the right tree, this alone is the display, with the roofline as a supporting act rather than the other way around.
The effect travels. More than a few of our calls start with someone who saw hanging tree lights in Old Metairie, drove past twice and finally pulled over to look. If that is how you found us, tell us which street. We probably hung it.
Christmas Lighting for the Season or All Year
Choose the familiar Christmas look or a lighting system that stays in place beyond December. Heritage Lighting Co. helps you compare the appearance, upkeep, and costs before you decide.
Traditional Christmas Lighting
The classic C9 bulb gives roof peaks and eaves a defined Christmas outline. Warm white is our signature look, with multicolor available by request. Add hanging tree lights, wreaths, garland, or pathway accents to create a seasonal display around the features you love.
The full seasonal lighting experience. Heritage owns the lights and handles installation, maintenance, removal, and storage. Enjoy the display without buying, tracking, or replacing light sets.
Permanent Outdoor Lighting
A year round lighting system stays installed between holidays, giving you an option beyond a seasonal Christmas display. Discuss the look and color options you want, and Sean will explain the equipment, suitability for your property, and project cost.
For lighting that stays in place all year. Permanent does not mean maintenance free. We discuss equipment and service expectations before you decide.
Choose the Details That Complete Your Seasonal Display
Start with a roofline you love, then choose the touches that make the whole property feel ready for Christmas. Each addition is a separate option in your proposal with its own price, so you can weigh them one at a time and keep the ones that matter to you.
Roofline Lights
Warm white C9 bulbs trace the shape of your home, picking out roof peaks, eaves, dormers, and architectural lines in one continuous run. Consistent spacing keeps the outline clean from the curb.
Wreaths & Garland
Bring the welcome closer with pre-lit wreaths, garland, and teardrops. We use nylon outdoor bows because of the local sun exposure, with wreath sizes chosen to suit the entrance.
Sidewalk Borders
Lining your sidewalk and driveway with Christmas lights creates a continuous ribbon of illumination that links the porch and pathway to the driveway and street.
Icicle Curtains
Add a flowing curtain of light where the design calls for a softer finish. We can discuss the placement and scale that complement your roofline, greenery, and hanging tree lights.
Plan Your Display With Clear Pricing
These ranges are a genuine starting point for Christmas light installation in New Orleans, published because you deserve to know roughly where you stand before you spend twenty minutes on the phone. We are not the cheapest option in this market and we do not pretend to be. What the number buys is commercial grade material, a design built for your specific house, and a company that comes back when something goes out.
A few things move the figure. Linear footage of roofline is the biggest one, followed by roof height, pitch and how safely we can reach it. After that it is the extras: how many trees, how large they are, how many greenery pieces, whether pathways and sidewalk borders are in the design, and where the power comes from. Sean explains each line so you can see what you are paying for before you decide.

Expanded Display

Make the Season Feel Special
Residential Lighting
A welcoming front door, a softly outlined roof and a favorite tree can change how a house feels for six weeks of the year. We help you decide which features deserve the attention and bring them together into one display rather than a collection of decorations. Warm white is our signature look, with multicolor available by request.
The work happens with respect for the property. Shoes come off at the door, ladders go where they will not mark the paint, and the crew treats the house the way they would treat their own. From intimate entrances to larger properties, you get a design you can enjoy from the street, from the porch and from the moments you spend with family.
Commercial Lighting
Give guests a reason to pause at your entrance. Heritage Lighting Co. creates coordinated seasonal displays for restaurants, storefronts, apartment communities, office parks and event spaces, planned around the building and the way people actually move through it.
Commercial work runs on a different clock. Tell us your operating hours, your busiest weeks and any events on the calendar, and we will schedule the install around them, usually before or after hours. A defined roofline, illuminated greenery or hanging tree lights over a patio can carry a property through the whole season, and the takedown and storage are handled the same way they are for a home.
How We Plan Your Holiday Light Installation
Discuss Your Property. Call or text your name, address and a few photos. Sean reviews the roofline, the trees, the access and the timing, then gets out to the property, usually the same evening during the season, to measure and see it in person. It helps to know how Sean got here before you hand him your house.
Choose Your Display. You get a proposal built on the roofline, with trees, greenery, pathways and accents listed as separate options. Add what you want, leave what you do not, and see the price move as you go. Nothing is bundled in that you did not choose, and nothing is hidden behind a package name.
Enjoy the Installation. Our installers bring the agreed design together, test every run before they leave, and walk you through what is included for the rest of the season. You know the removal window, who to call if a section goes dark, and what happens to the lights in January. Then you get to stop thinking about it.
A Look at Our Holiday Work
Look closely at how rooflines, entrances, pathways, and trees work together in these displays. A clean outline gives the house definition, while greenery and mini lights bring the warmth closer to the front door. Save the details you love and we can discuss how a similar approach could suit your property.
Christmas Lighting Across Greater New Orleans
Heritage Lighting Co. installs Christmas lighting throughout the City of New Orleans and the surrounding parishes, with the heart of the work in Metairie and Old Metairie, where most of our displays go up each year. We also take inquiries from Kenner, River Ridge and Lakeview.
Every neighborhood here asks something different of a display. Old Metairie has the mature oaks and the deep setbacks that make hanging tree lights land the way they do. Lakeview leans toward clean rooflines on newer construction. Kenner and River Ridge sit somewhere in between. We design to the street as much as to the house, because a display that looks right in one neighborhood can look oversized in the next.
Share your address and the timing you have in mind, and Sean will confirm whether we have room on the calendar. December fills early, and the best weeks go to the people who call in the fall.
What to Know Before Planning Your Display
-
Call in September or October if you can. Our installation calendar fills from the outside in, so the weeks either side of Thanksgiving are the first to go and December gets tight fast. If you want the house ready for Thanksgiving guests or a specific party, tell us the date when you request the quote and we will confirm whether it is still available before anything is scheduled. Late callers are not turned away, but the choice of dates narrows.
-
Yes, and most of our displays do all three. The roofline is the base, the entryway usually gets a pre lit wreath and garland, and the trees take hanging light strands or mini lights depending on the canopy. What we recommend depends on which features are worth highlighting and how safely we can reach them. Send a few photos of the front of the property with your inquiry and we can start the conversation with something real to look at.
-
Call us and leave it alone. Seasonal maintenance is part of the service, so a section that goes dark or a decoration that shifts after weather is ours to fix at no additional cost. The reason this matters beyond convenience: the National Fire Protection Association attributes roughly 860 home fires a year to holiday decorations, and the Electrical Safety Foundation International recommends outdoor decorations run on GFCI protected circuits and that damaged cords be replaced rather than repaired. Wet connections and a ladder are not a good combination. Let us handle it.
-
Linear footage of roofline is the largest factor, then roof height, pitch and access, since a steep second story takes longer and needs more equipment than a single story ranch. After that it is what you add: the number and size of trees, how many greenery pieces, whether pathways and sidewalk borders are included, and where the power is. Our published ranges run from $899 to $1,199 for a small roofline up to $2,500 and above for a large home design, and Sean walks through each line before you decide.
-
We take the display down in January, weather permitting, and confirm the window with you in advance. The lights come back to our shop where they are sorted, labeled and stored until next season. Heritage keeps ownership of the material and handles replacements, so nothing goes into your attic and you are not buying new sets every few years when the old ones stop working.
-
You will hear them called hanging tree lights, cluster lights, cascading lights or tree string lights. There is no settled name, which is why most people describe them instead. They are warm white LED mini strands run up into the canopy and dropped from the branches so the light hangs in vertical columns. That is different from wrapping strands around a trunk. It is the single most requested look in Old Metairie and the reason a lot of our phone calls start with someone describing a street they drove down.
-
Heritage Lighting Co. does. The lights on your house belong to us, which is what makes the rest of the service work. We design the display, install it, maintain it through the season, remove it and store it, and we replace strands and bulbs as they fail. You are buying a lit house for the season, not a box of lights and a ladder. It also means a failed strand in mid December is our cost, not a change order.
-
Both, with different levels of depth. Year round systems stay installed between holidays and change color from an app, and Sean will give you a straight assessment of whether one suits your property, including what tends to fail and what the manufacturers actually cover. Interior decorating is newer for us and runs through a decorator working with Heritage, covering trees, mantel garland, doorway entries and foyers. Ask about either and we will tell you honestly where we stand.
Let’s Design Your Christmas Display
Tell us what you picture, whether that is a clean roofline, a tree the whole street will slow down for, or the whole property lit end to end. Send the address and a few photos and we will help you choose the details, understand the price and take the next step without any pressure to decide on the spot. If you would rather just talk it through with Sean, the number is right here.
